Escher Beat – I Want To Wake Up Where You Are
This one took me completely by surprise folks. Escher Beat is an enigmatic Brooklyn producer that has been making waves in the underground in NYC for a couple of years now. I always knew he was talented but this one is next level right here. The track comes in so innocently & gradually, I nearly mistook it for a morning meditative chill out tune played at Burning Man this year. Escher Beat takes his time and layers each wave of sound on top of the other mindfully. This kind of production is something we rarely see in the frenetic world of festival sets, electro-trap and club bangers. Once you figure out where the track takes its title & vocal chorus from, you’re going to kick yourself. It’s got an impeccable processing gauntlet that the original tune is run through and we’re all better for it. This is the best thing I’ve heard attached to 90’s pop in years. I wasn’t a fan in high school, but I’d definitely drop this into a chill out or pre-gaming set. This isn’t a tune to rage to, but that’s ok. This meditation on how much you can tease & distort pop vibes is totally welcome, and we can’t wait to hear what Escher Beat has for us next. If you need more of this dope psy-chill & expansive vibe, hit up his debut album here!
