Sony just had its press conference at Paris Games Week and announced a new rhythm game exclusive to the PlayStation 4 featuring the one and only Avicii. ‘AVICII | VECTOR’, defined by the developer Hello There as “a new kind of multiplayer music game with a fusion between gameplay, graphics and music,” is set to feature exclusive remixes by the superstar himself. The responsive experience gives dance music fans a cool new way of interacting with Tim’s music, remixing tracks in accordance to how the player flies through each level.
Avicii is not only donating his beats, he’s in charge of playtesting the game and contributing ideas for the multiplayer, bringing the look and feel of one of his concerts to fruition. Expect Tim to bring a vast array of electronic genres to the game. AVICII | VECTOR is slated to be released in 2016.
With all this in mind, it’s worth noting that Avicii’s forthcoming video game kind of seems like a ripoff of the popular computer game AudioSurf. If you look at the trailer for AVICII | VECTOR (above) and a couple examples of AudioSurf (below), you can see the undeniable similarities. We’ll have to see how this one plays out, but it’s hard to ignore the resemblance.
