Years & Years – Shine
It’s hard to miss these guys this summer, with them set to play Wild Life and Glastonbury in the UK, and recently announced Hard Summer here in the states. But for those of us who missed their short US intro, the wait to see them live is going to be even more unbearable with the release of their 2nd single ‘Shine,’ a slow yet deep track with pulsating bass. Years & Years takes a stab at R&B in the verse, leading up to the bright electro-pop chorus. It complements ‘King‘ with its ease. It still keeps the bite of the first single, but its slower vibe and “ooh-oohs” refreshes your mind, getting you charged up to listen to their debut album Communion, which was pushed back from its original release on June 22nd to July 10th. Apparently this new track was supposed to also drop sometime in July, but good thing the boys did not go through with it. This summer anthem is exactly what we need to reassure ourselves that Olly Alexander is far from a fluke. And that the impending album will blow our minds with its genre versatility, breezy vocals, and consistency.
