Eva Simons has been a longtime EDM darling, with her melodious voice appearing on some of the biggest tracks of the past few years, including Afrojack’s massive, ‘Take Over Control’. Now, Simons is stepping out on her own with a track and video that clearly draw inspiration from her EDM roots. ‘Policeman’ is Simons’ debut track and video as a solo artist, and since its last month, the song has steadily climbed the iTunes dance charts in fourteen countries. Simons cites Major Lazer and M.I.A. as some of her inspirations, and their influence is clear here. From Simons’ raw vocals, to her funky style in the video, ‘Policeman’ is a fun and energetic track with a technicolor video that looks and sounds like it could be something Mad Decent whipped up, but with Simon’s signature style, voice, and mohawk. With features on tracks from superstars like Zedd, and Chris Brown, Simons has a great launch point for her solo career and if ‘Policeman’ is any indication, we can expect more funky and fun hits from the singer. Be sure to check out the video below, as well as Simons’ performance at Kings Day Festival, where she DJ’ed live and performed some of her biggest hits.
