Over the years, SoundCloud has received praise from dozens of electronic music producers as being the medium responsible for perpetuating their success. The mound of residual digital waste that’s forming from the SoundCloud vs. Sony Music war continues to grow. On Tuesday, Madeon tweeted out to his fan base that “Sony will take down all of my music from my SoundCloud account in the next few days”. It is not clear however when Sony plans to remove Madeon’s music, as the image below indicates that his material is still available on SoundCloud.
Sony is in their right to remove music from the free streaming platform and has publicly said that they will do so as a result of a “lack of monetization opportunities”. Madeon’s music has been released on Columbia Records – which is, unfortunately, owned by Sony Music.
