In five short years, Black Butter Records has gone from a relatively small independent record label, primarily used for promotion, to one of dance music’s most iconic and innovative imprints. After making its debut in 2010 with RackNRuin’s Soundclash EP, featuring Jessie Ware, Black Butter Records didn’t make waves in the dance music sphere until the release of Rudimental’s “Feel the Love” featuring John Newman in 2012. Since then, the dance music imprint has consistently been pushing the envelope with its brand, signing up-and-comers like Gorgon City and developing them into superstars.
What sets Black Butter Records apart from the typical dance label isn’t just their forward-thinking approach for their artists, rather, the record label is known for throwing some of the greatest underground parties to date. In April, Black Butter teamed up with MATTE to throw a massive party in New York, and now, they’re back with their official Movement afterparty. Taking place May 25th, the Movement afterparty will showcase Gorgon City and Kidnap Kid, alongside a back-to-back set between MK and Lee Foss.
