It’s been 117 weeks since Billboard launched their Dance/Electronic top-25. Since its inception, David Guetta has landed 18 tracks on the chart, but had not managed a number 1 single, until now. Only Skrillex (21) has had as many songs on the rankings. Billboard has released their list for the week of May 2nd, and Guetta, with the help of Nicki Minaj and Afrojack, claimed the top position with his single ‘Hey Mama’. Despite being released last November on Guetta’s 18-track album ‘Listen‘, the track topples Zedd‘s smash hit ‘I Want To Know You’, featuring Selena Gomez, after its ownage of the top spot for 6 consecutive weeks. Guetta’s highest position previously held was No. 5, in 2013.
“Mama also becomes Guetta’s second top 10 (17-10) on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs with 1.9 million U.S. streams (up 21 percent) and sprints 17 spots up the Billboard Hot 100 (44-27), where it becomes the French DJ’s highest-peaking track since “Titanium” (No. 7 in July 2012).”
