Carlos Serrano is a talented producer who has been killing the mashup game. Serrano specializes in seamlessly blending tracks from a wide variety of genres to create chilled out, soothing music. Serrano made waves back in December when he produced what many called the “mashup of the year”. His mix of Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” showcased his tremendous talent as a producer and his fearlessness in combining songs from literally any genre.
This time Serrano mashes up a similar combination with Jay-Z and Ed Sheeran. Serrano’s distinct knack for creating a relaxing vibe shines through on this track. The production is impeccable throughout, perfectly complementing the Jay-Z’s rhymes and Ed Sheeran’s soaring vocals. The timing of the track is on point, as Jay-Z’s raps flow smoothly into the chorus with Sheeran’s vocals. While many wouldn’t expect Jay-Z’s “Song Cry” to work well with Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”, Serrano has once again brilliantly proved the skeptics wrong.
