UMEK ft. Waka Flocka – Cheezin’
In the realm of dance music, dream collaborations actually happen relatively frequently. We’ve seen deadmau5 b2b Eric Prydz, Skrillex and Diplo, and even a ‘b7b’ at one wild ASOT650 show. We’ve also seen some unlikely collabs like Kaskade with Killagraham and the upcoming union of Oliver Heldens and Zeds Dead with “You Know“. While some of these may have been very surprising, Spinnin Records may have just jumped the shark topped them all by previewing one of the strangest collaborations of all time. Tech house legend UMEK has teamed up with turn-up king Waka Flocka for the utterly shocking “Cheezin'”.
It seems impossible that these worlds would ever meet, but once you accept that this isn’t a troll track, it’s actually quite interesting (and maybe even awesome). The track allows UMEK to do his thing with groovy basslines and an infectious beat while Waka Flocka does his by adding some of his trademark lyrics and chants. Might this union of underground sound and mainstage energy be a gamechanger? Only time will tell if it goes down as genius or crazy, but either way this track is worthy of your attention. “Cheezin'” will be available on February 20th, but in the meantime, you can check out the super sexy music video below.
