Ultra is giving a serious nod to the more sophisticated side of the music industry with their new ‘Resistance Stage’ concept for 2015. With the rise of deeper genre’s in the American electronic music market more “underground”, forms of dance music have started to seep their way into listeners’ ears. Ultra is taking note this year as they gear up to release their ‘Resistance’ concept onto the masses.
Ultra took to Facebook to explain the new concept:
Although this fresh approach to Ultra’s lineup wouldn’t necessarily be considered as “outside of the box” or “undiscovered” in our books – seeing as three names on Friday’s lineup: Maceo Plex, A Tale of Us, & Dixon were all ranked as the top 3 DJs of 2014 in Resident Advisor’s DJ Poll. However, we do greatly appreciate that Ultra is encouraging the American electronic music community to dig in deeper and explore more refined styles. Is this a clear indicaton of Ultra acknowledging that “EDM” is more a sound and less a genre? Who knows. What is clear is that the American electronic community is maturing, one stage at a time.
Please stop using the word “underground” to refer to our Resistance stage.
