Kaskade just held a massive Redux at NYC’s Pier 36, to cap off yet another momentous year. This was no ordinary Redux night though; consider it a Redux-Deluxe, if you will. Straying slightly from its original concept, this was held in a big ol’ room, packed corner to corner – so you could say the intimacy was still there, just on a larger scale. Despite his initial concerns of having a Redux set on a festival scale, things seemed to have gone impressively well, but there was a little surprise for the crowd that nobody could have expected: towards the end of the night, Skrillex took to the decks with Kaskade. As he took the helm, the vibes transitioned away from cool and smooth, to heavy and trappy.
Sure, for those looking for a ‘pure’ Redux experience this may have been slightly disgruntling, but this was a pretty special b2b set; it was certainly one the majority of the crowd didn’t want to pass up on. Their collab off of Kaskade’s Fire and Ice, ‘Lick It‘, proved they had the ability to produce together, and this night proved they could play together. Check out some of these user uploads as proof:
