Following a year for the history books for PandaFunk boss,
Deorro, it comes to the surprise of many that he has indeed hung up the cleats for the final time. Despite notching a personal best ranking on DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 Djs , nabbing the #19 spot, Deorro wishes to spend more time with his family, something he could rarely do while touring. As his young children, one of which is about to begin schooling, grow up, it is not outlandish to believe Erick would like to be around more often. Earlier in the year, Deorro
hinted at his retirement from tour life, but now it is seemingly official as he wishes to gear his focus towards producing and further development of his label, PandaFunk.
“Touring has blessed me with everything that I have… But now that I have everything I need, I also want to give the same thing to others… Don’t get me wrong, I love to DJ, I’m gonna miss it. I’m probably going to miss it two days after I go home but I’d rather miss DJing than my family.”
At this point in time, we can only respect Deorro’s personal decision and wish him luck in his future endeavors.
