Remember when Martin Garrix crashed onto the scene like a meteor, with the release of his anthemic hit ‘Animals’? Of course you do, it was inescapable. His name (and that track) spread like wildfire, and became a household hold name in what seemed like seconds. Garrix catapulted to the top 50 in DJ Mag’s 2013 top DJs poll, landing on a very comfortable #40 spot. Naturally, many in the industry became enamored with this young star, and he’s gone on to work with numerous mainstays. He’s worked with Ed Sheeran, Skrillex, Afrojack, and Headhunterz (to name just a few). His recent collab with Dillon Francis, ‘Set Me Free’, has done exceedingly well, receiving over one million plays on Soundcloud. Not only has he been busy in the studio, he’s been performing around the world at some of the biggest festivals around.
All this hard work has put the 18 year old in the company of some of the highest grossing DJs around. More importantly though, he’s made an unprecedented leap in the DJ Mag poll this year. After catapulting 36 spots, Martin Garrix is now the youngest DJ in the DJ Mag top 5, as he’s sitting proud at number 4. Yep number 4. Regardless of what people think of this poll, that’s quite the feat. A huge congrats is in order, well done Martin. Here’s to another big year. Who knows, maybe 2015 will see Garrix take up the number one spot from his fellow countryman, and friend/reigning champ, Hardwell?
