There’s not much left to say about Hardwell’s meteoric rise to fame. The Dutch DJ and producer came out of nowhere with a slew of killer tracks, landmark festival sets, and he’s definitely no stranger to recognition, awards, and titles. This November, that ever-growing list of awards seems poised to grow as Hardwell is nominated for three MTV European Music Awards. With MTV embracing dance music as of late, and given the genres popularity overseas, it comes as no surprise that the awards show is throwing some nods to DJs. The 26 year-old received nominations in the “Best Dutch Act,” “Best World Stage Performance,” and “Best Electronic Act” categories.
Other contenders for the “Best Electronic Act” category include Afrojack, Avicii, Calvin Harris, and David Guetta, while Martin Garrix is also in the running for the “Best Dutch Act” award. We wish all the nominees the best of luck. Regardless of the winners, this is definitely a positive sign and a few steps forward for EDM in general. MTV is still a powerhouse network, and this increased recognition of DJ’s and their skill bodes well for a genre that is on the verge of a mainstream breakthrough. Cast your votes HERE.
