It’s no surprise that some of the biggest names in EDM took home a coveted piece of “Kryptonite” at this weeks
Ibiza DJ Awards. Yes, the Ibiza DJ Awards hands winners a a neon-green rock-shaped trophy, famous from Superman lore. According to event organizers, Kryptonite represents both the code of life (“crypto”) and nightlife and it’s culture (“nite”). While such an offbeat trophy may startle fans, the list of winners heading home with one certainly should not. Eleven different genres were recognized at the awards, and eleven more “special awards” were handed out, including Track of the Season and Dance Nation of the Year. Legendary DJ
Carl Cox took home nods in both categories he was nominated for (Best Techno and International DJ). Relative newcomers
Disclosure won Best Electronic Live Performance, and the Number 1 DJ in the World,
Hardwell, took him the trophy in Electro House, for the second year running. Also,
Skrillex nabbed the Dubstep award, and his Jack U partner,
Diplo, won the very first award in the Electronia category. The Track of the Season was Patrick Topping’s dancefloor burner ‘Forget,’ which you can listen to below. See below for the full list of winners at the Ibiza DJ Awards.
