Pioneer Electronics, well known in the world of electronic music for their series of CDJ digital decks, has just introduced details on their newest product, the
PLX-1000 Professional Turntable. Engineered as a DJ quality direct drive analog turntable, the PLX-1000 caters to those who prefer the look, feel, and performance of vinyl music playback. There is certainly a portion of the DJ community that continues to enjoy the traditional feel of vinyl playback and that’s the target market Pioneer has set their sights on. The PLX-1000 model features a ‘highly familiar, user-friendly control layout, high-torque direct drive mechanism’, and exceptional audio playback quality. Drawing comparisons to the Technics classic turntable, the new PLX also boasts new variable tempo controls that can be switched from the standard plus-or-minus 8 percent to 16 or even 50. There is also a tempo reset switch and some exciting internal improvements that will aid with damping, isolation and feedback. This is a an exciting development for vinyl DJs everywhere, as Pioneer is bringing back a classic piece of DJ technology, or at least bringing more attention back to it. According to their official site, the PLX-1000 will be released in August 2014 for a suggested retail price of $849.
