Rusko Waves Goodbye to the Wub With “!” EP Release

Most people who know and love Rusko are familiar with his bass-to-the-ground, wobble clad production style found in tracks like “Woo Boost”, “Mr Chips” and “Hammertime”. Rusko is hailed for being a Dubstep trailblazer back when the scene was up-and-coming and his music first began surfacing. That being said, the UK producer is abandoning his dubbed out roots and taking on a very different persona with his latest EP release, entitled “!”, coinciding with his upcoming 4 month North American tour dates. Instead of continuing the legacy of his signature UK wub sound, Rusko decided to take on a new direction by “creating a five-track genre-less sound exploration”. The new release demonstrates a range of musical diversity as it consists of “tropical trap”, “filthy funk Drum n Bass” and future bass tracks. “Like a Boss” gives listeners a much funkier and glitchier side of the UK producer’s style, reminiscent of Griz’s signature swag. Tracks like “Sunshower” and “Happy Chords” provide a more airy, calm and ambient feel to the EP.  As a whole, “!” is a much more fun and carefree release than Rusko’s previous productions. Each track gives dimension and diversity to the EP, but every release provides something unexpected that listeners haven’t gotten yet from the UK producer. Those who are expecting to hear a familiar side of Rusko may be surprised when they press play on his new EP, but for those who are open to experiencing his current musical transformation may be pleasantly surprised by what they hear.
