Porter Robinson’s debut album ‘Worlds’, which is set to release this August, has taken on the role of one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2014. Over the past couple of months, he has been giving his fans a sneak peak at what’s sure to be a beautiful collection of sounds, including ‘Sea of Voices’, ‘Sad Machine’ and ‘Lionhearted’. When describing ‘Sad Machine’, Porter points to the brief interludes of gaming sounds and fictional bits that made the track feel so nostalgic for him. It might just be those intricacies that make the production the perfect track to be reworked by indie electro band Anamanaguchi, who specialize in combining real instruments with 8-bit gaming sounds to produce lively chiptune records. They undoubtedly live up to their reputation, infusing poppy energy without diminishing any of the surreal reverie of the original. The four-member band out of New York City leaves us with a final product that is both inspiring and haunting, while leaving your feet tapping the entire time.
