With the 2014 installment of the MTV Video Music Awards just a little over a month away, viewers can now start speculating about who will be taking home the hardware, as the list of nominees has just been revealed. While music icons such as Beyonce and Eminem lead the pack with eight and seven nods respectively, dance music still showed a very strong presence in this years list of artists. DJ Snake’s insane video for “Turn Down For What” proved to be quite the spectacle, as it has been nominated for Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects along with Disclosure’s “Grab Her.” Zedd’s “Stay The Night” video was also shown some love, as it will be hoping to take home the Best Editing Award. All three of these artists’ videos will be going up against Calvin Harris’ “Summer” and Martin Garrix’s “Animals” for MTV’s ode to dance music, the MTV Clubland Award. Other notable VMA nominees include Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” for Best Pop, Avicii’s “Hey Brother” and David Guetta’s “One Voice” for Best Video With A Social Message and Gesaffelstein’s “Hate or Glory” for Best Cinematography. While we are still waiting on a full list of performers and presenters, we can tell you that Ariana Grande will be performing her new collaboration with Zedd, “Break Free”, in front of the VMA crowd.
