Cashmere Cat, Norwegian producer/DJ/lover of cats, has just released an hour-long mix through Pitchfork’s “MoMA PS1’s Warm Up”, a mix series which presents sessions by artists that will be preforming at the annual event in New York City. Cashy takes the listener on ranging voyage through many different sounds and genres of the electronic world. Within the very first few songs of the mix, Cashmere Cat’s influences are as clear as they are distinct. The Norwegian music maker begins with a cold, reverbed electronic instrumental but then quickly switches up for R&B-infused dance song, a sound he himself has helped popularized. The session is filled with all kinds of gems, most notably a new Hudson Mohawke track “King Kong Beaver” near the back end of the mix. The sessions is available for listening and downloading pleasure, so be sure to get your Cashmere Cat on.
