Tony, Paavo, and Jono have finally previewed the long awaited and much anticipated “Blue Sky Action” to the masses via their Group Therapy radio show this afternoon. The track has seen somewhat scattered play in their live sets over the past year or so, with them slowly ramping up its use leading up to EDC Las Vegas, where it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of their spectacular set. As always with Above & Beyond, “Blue Sky Action” is a track of the highest quality. Luscious nu-age trance themes rip up into a soft breakdown, leading up into Alex Vargas’ mesmerizing vocal hook. The release is everything we’ve come to expect from Above & Beyond’s new direction post-Group Therapy, and the filmic, rolling chords perfectly encapsulate the cheeriness of “Blue Sky Action’s” motif. Blue skies, indeed.
2014 has seen our favorite trio go from strength to strength again, with the release of their critically acclaimed acoustic album, as well as a slew of releases from them and from their Anjunabeats label. Tracks like “Hello, ” “Sticky Fingers” and ilan Bluestone’s “Satellite” remix have weighed in as some of the biggest dance anthems of the year so far. And of course, it has been known in Anjunabeats fan circles that “Blue Sky Action” is track that will appear on Above & Beyond’s forthcoming artist album, due out sometime in 2015. We anticipate more track information and release date information to surface over the next few months, namely, during Above & Beyond’s ABGT 100 celebrations at Madison Square Garden this Fall.
