Perennial New York house DJ Roger Sanchez returns in 2014 with an absolutely infectious release, under his brand new label at that -UNDR THE RDR- entitled “Dangerous Thoughts.” With his S-Man moniker, a name he began utilizing in 1994 in order to separate some of his inherently deeper from the rest of his discography, Roger Sanchez has crafted a dance floor ready tune that is an ode to the deep house genre, while at the same time incorporating laser stabs and and aggressive, tech-washed soundscape. The vocal sample is a perfect commentary on our mainstream-obsessed EDM culture, preaching “I’ve been thinking about how you all sound the same, your style is mad fake like that rep that you claim.”
On the remix package are the quite talented producers Amine Edge & Dance, and Man Without a Clue (whose general style melds perfectly with these stems, making for a perfect remixing request), who both put their unique deep/tech-centric spins on the tune. All three are releasing on UNDR THE RDR in celebration of the 20 year anniversary of the S-Man. A refreshing and very good track from a veteran in the industry, and one that wisely interprets our current scene. Take a listen and explore these very traditional, yet newly revived sounds:
