House maestro and Resident Advisor’s #22nd DJ in the world, Hot Since 82, is starting Summer off right by forming his own record label, Knee Deep in Sound. It’s always exciting news when one of house music’s leading producers takes a stab at a record label, and this is evident with Knee Deep In Sound from its very first release: a Hot Since 82 original and a remix of the same by the legendary Booka Shade. Few would ask for more from a first release than a Booka Shade remix, whose presence on the label solidifies our excitement for the new imprint. “Don’t Touch the Alarm” features the Leeds producer’s signature teched-out vibes and a dark, yet sharp, bass line that is gorgeously wrapped around a deep vocal sample. Booka Shade take the sound even deeper, lending focus to the darker aspects of the track, as well as simplifying the more intricate bass lines found in the original. Knee Deep In Sound is sure to be a source for a plethora of dance floor fire starters. Be sure to check them out, and keep your eyes on EDMTunes for coverage once the label beings releasing more material.
