After being selected to premiere at Sundance in January, the EDC 2013 documentary will be coming soon to a theater near you. Under The Electric Sky (EDC 2013) will be distributed in the U.S. by Focus Features and the theatrical crowd sourcing company, Tugg. What that means is that in addition to a traditional release in theaters, Under The Electric Sky will be brought to the fans, by the fans. Starting in May, if you want to check out the epic 3D showcase of Insomniac’s flagship festival, you and your friends can request and host screenings in your hometown using Tugg. The movie was directed by Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, the director duo behind Katy Perry: Part of Me and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, and features behind the scenes footage and sets from Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Dillon Francis, Fatboy Slim, Hardwell and Tiesto. The film also tells the stories of certain individuals who responded to Insomniac’s call to document their festival experience and be a part of the EDC 2013 documentary. If you can’t wait to experience the festival magic onscreen, we recommend streaming the 2011 documentary The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience on Netflix.
