Back in early January, Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5, announced that he had finished his two-disc, 25-track album. Since then, the rumor mill has of course been buzzing.
“It’s done, I have the digital masters ready to fucking go, but they have to run it through the marketing machine and the release schedule and what we’re going to do to ‘help push the album’ fuckin’ bullshit. So I’m just gonna let them do that, but it takes more than two months.”
In regards to what the album consists of, Deadmau5 commented that there are a couple of songs that the fans would be familiar with, but then mentions, “I’m confident that there’s enough fresh stuff on there that it’s going to attract new fans. That’s kind of the play here – not do a continuation of what I’ve been doing for the last four albums; that’s just stupid.” Zimmerman later hints that there may be some commercial music, saying, “Plus there’s a couple of tracks on there that are quite radio-friendly, not even dance music, that I’m going to put out as singles just to attract that kind of shit. So it’s a long-game strategy at this point.”
Although the exact release date of this album is unknown, fans can most likely expect it to come out in April. In the meantime, you can catch Joel Zimmerman performing at Miami Music Week. He’ll be spinning at The Ice Palace for the Mau5trap vs. Pryda show.
