“Thundercat” and “That was Easy” mark the first two official releases from Norin & Rad for 2014, and it sounds like these guy are in for a big year. Sporting some similar sounds from their collab track “Prototype” with Andrew Bayer, “That Was Easy” is meant to blast from speakers with commanding presence. The distorted synth lead in sets the mood of the track, letting everyone know it’s time to really get down. The breakdown is heavy but quirky as well; the sound of it seems like it would fit well with a crashing airplane .gif (I know that sounds strange but hear me out). Luckily this track isn’t all pounding bass and heavy distortion, there is a brief period where choppy vocals, white noise, drums, and beautiful synths come out to play together; perhaps there will be a remix that takes this and makes it the focus of the track, but for now enjoy the big room sounds of this club floor-lifter. Thundercat and That Was Easy are both available as a Beatport exclusive.
