Ringing in the new year with a rare live set, Eric Prydz took over Echostage in Washington, D.C., for the first time on December 31st, 2013. Echostage opened in the fall of 2012 and has been attracting top-tier talent ever since. The 30,000-square-foot space is known primarily for being the premier destination for electronic music headliners in the District and its surrounding suburbs.
Opening with the two tracks from his recent Pryda EP Lycka, Prydz mesmerized the New Year’s Eve crowd for three full hours. Ever a chameleon of musical identities and styles, the set was primarily Pryda with some Cirez D thrown in. Toward the end of his set, he brought out the signature Prydz crowd-pleaser “Every Day.” If you were expecting typical Top 40 house music, the three hours of Eric Prydz/Pryda/Cirez D material may have disappointed. But Prydz proved his ability to innovate shows no signs of stopping in 2014, playing several ID tracks during the set. Relive the night or experience the set for the first time below.
