This years edition of the annual ADE 5-day music conference will run from October 15th-19th. Record attendance is expected, with numbers likely to reach over 350,000 visitors. The event has grown steadily over the last three years, doubling in size. Previous years have featured over 2,000 artists and 300 different events spread out over 50 venues. Amsterdam Dance Event runs throughout the day and night and showcases unique events like the DJ Cook-Off and an awards ceremony. ADE is an important event for the Netherlands and Amsterdam and for the electronic music industry. Event director Richard Zijlma explains, “Dance music is currently in the process of conquering the world, with more and more countries and industries getting involved. Consequently ADE has become a global knowledge and business platform that the world, and the Netherlands and Amsterdam in particular, all benefit from. It’s not for nothing that dance music is now an important part of the cultural policy of the Dutch government.” If last years event, honoring the 25th Anniversary of dance music in the Netherlands, is any indication, attendees are in for the biggest and best ADE yet.
