Tis the season to be giving, and clearly the giving gene has been contagious this year. Zedd announced via his Twitter yesterday that 100% of the profits from his Manila show will be going to charity. In addition, Zedd announced that the first 500 fans who showed up to the main entrance with canned food to donate would be given a free ticket as compensation. This is just another story in the philanthropic world of EDM; following Super Typhoon Haiyan, numerous DJs have pledged to donate their profits to help the cause. Axwell was the first to donate his Manila show profits to charity, Steve Aoki was in the news for pledging to donate up to $36,000 to charity for his 36th birthday, Armin Van Buuren raised 50,000 euros for the cause and Amsterdam held it’s own ‘DJs for the Philippines‘ in order to raise money for the cause.
