We’ve been so swept up in the magic of Above & Beyond’s legendary two night acoustic performances at the Greek Theatre, that we almost forgot the sobering fact that they previewed a brand new tune off of their upcoming album. Tony McGuinness himself takes the reigns on vocals for a song that apparently hits close to home for him. Of course, we’re talking about the absolutely gorgeous Making Plans. “It’s a song about taking your own advice, advice that we’ve been giving out for years in a A Thing Called Love. [This is when I gave it a try myself] and this is what happened” says Tony. Once more, Tony and Paavo and Jono have picked a subject matter that pulls at the heart strings of just about everybody. This acoustic version is beautiful in its own right, and shows true musicians at work – after all, most of Above & Beyond’s tracks begin their life in the acoustic realm. We have a sneaking suspicion that we will hear the electronic version in just a few weeks time at ABGT 050. October is quickly becoming the month of Above & Beyond, which is nothing unexpected for a trio that have defined a generation for many electronic dance music lovers.
