MAKJ‘s made a healthy amount of Daft Punk remixes, so it’s no surprise that his new track with M35, “Revolution” and its voice chanting “909” is an unsubtle tribute to Daft Punk’s “Revolution 909” track off their Homework album (1997). While the Electro House track’s defiant, high energy atmosphere might embody some of the rising resistance against the steadily creeping oppression against the EDM scene( the underlying message of the original), it certainly doesn’t take after Daft Punk’s track musically. “Revolution”, to be released on Doorn Records, has been sampled in everyone’s summer festival sets and radio mixes, including Hardwell, W&W, Gareth Emery, Laidback Luke, Afrojack, R3hab, Tritonal, Nicky Romero, and a massive slew of other DJs. This track effectively doubled the amount of times I’ve googled “Revolution 909 lyrics track festival set electrohouse no not the daft punk one can’t find on shazam pls help”.
