Hardwell has remixed the memorable Mark Knight and Funkagenda cover of Laurent Garnier’s ‘Man with the Red Face’ as part of the tenth anniversary celebration for Toolroom Records. Created by Mark Knight in 2003, Toolroom has grown to become one of the bigger dance labels around. Now, they’ve brought in more premiere talent to help celebrate a decade of supplying some of dance music’s greatest tracks.
Hardwell’s rendition is a nice display of restraint from the Dutch producer. While it exhibits the upbeat melody and big-room bass that has made him so successful this summer, it also maintains the deep synth sound of the original mix, and uses the iconic saxophone interlude to split the track before jumping back into his progressive version. It’s no wonder that Hardwell brought home ‘Best Remixer’ at the 2013 International Dance Music Awards (as well as ‘Best European DJ’).
