French house maestro Cedric Gervais transitions right from his hit “Summertime Sadness” remix train quite smoothly into what is sure to be another summer anthem. An additional instance of the now seemingly popular production tactic of modernizing 80’s hits with current musical trends in the electronic music world, Cedric chose to reinterpret the 1985 smash by Howard Jones “Things Can Only Get Better”.
The official release follows a (fitting) 80’s style music video released a month before the track officially dropped. Previews have already garnered support from podcasts such as Tiesto’s Club Life, Hardwell On Air & Sander van Doorn’s Identity, and the track has also been topped off with a remix from Landis additionally making rounds on the airwaves. In all these ways and more, TCOGB has generated much interest and anticipation for its official release.
I can picture it now: driving through town in 90 degree heat pumping this blast from the past, getting stopped by a red light…and receiving those “wait, I know that song…don’t I?” looks from unsuspecting passers-by in regards to that ever-familiar vocal.
