Grimes and Elon Musk have changed their first baby’s unusual name to comply with California law. According to Billboard, the regulation states that a child’s name must only contain the first 26 characters in the English alphabet, excluding numbers.

On May 24th, one of Grime’s Instagram followers asked if her child’s name was changed yet due to California law. The singer replied by stating “X Æ A-Xii. Roman numerals. Looks better tbh.”

In May, both the singer and Tesla founder revealed that they named their first newborn child X Æ A-12. When the news was shared, the world wasn’t sure if the couple was actually being serious. Not only is it spelled unusually, but it is also extremely difficult to pronounce. Since the reveal, it has become the latest meme trend on social media.

Elon Musk recently shared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast how the name is pronounced. He stated that the “X” is pronounced as the letter and Æ sounds like “ash.” A-12, on the other hand, is short for “Archangel – 12;” this is known as the precursor to the SR71, which Musk considered the “coolest plane ever.” Ultimately, he stated that Grimes was the one who mainly came up with the name.
