The kings of Tomorrowland and former number 1 DJ in the world, Hardwell, seem to have put their differences aside. In 2015, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were said to have hired workers to wander festival grounds with iPads and ask attendees to vote for the duo on the DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll. As a result, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike would rise to the top spot of that year’s poll and in the process, dethroning Hardwell of his number 1 DJ title. Hardwell did not take to it kindly as he would call out the duo on Twitter following the incident.
This year marks the second year that Hardwell has been left off the Tomorrowland lineup. Being that Tomorrowland is one of the biggest EDM music festivals in the world, the absence of Hardwell came to the shock of everyone including the Dutch DJ. Rumors are that Tomorrowland snubbed Hardwell of his spot on the lineup in order to protect the hometown DJs, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
While Hardwell will not be attending this year’s Tomorrowland once again, it seems that he and the Belgian brothers have come to a reconciliation. Like Mike’s recent Instagram post features a photo of two parties sharing lunch together with the caption, “Lunch Amongst Friends”. Hopefully this revived friendship leads to a collaboration in the near future.
