Snapchat is at it yet again with a slew of new features released in one of its largest updates to date. As Mashable writes ever so succinctly, “it changes, well, almost everything.”
With this update, the app now offers capabilities to do looping videos, emoji doodling, “limitless” snaps (yes, this really does mean that you can now snap without any time constraint) and an eraser tool that lets you remove various objects from your snaps before posting.
The most significant part of this update is one that truly changes one of the core parts of Snapchat’s inner workings: that you can both send and view snaps without any time limit. You can, of course, still keep a time limit on it if you choose – but the point here is that you have the option to choose. The goal, according to Snapchat, is to increase room for creativity and lessen the frustrations with using the platform. In a press release from the company, they wrote:
We’ve all felt the frustration of not being able to fully enjoy a Snap – even after replaying it – and we wanted to give you the option of allowing the recipient to enjoy your Snap as long as they’d like. After your friend finishes viewing the Snap and taps to close it, it will delete as usual.
The time-limit-free Snaps are usable on both Snapchat Stories and in individual Snaps you send to friends, meaning that anyone and everyone can enjoy that Snap you spent so much time creating. If a friend sends you a Snap with no limit, you now have to manually skip to the next Snap or completely close the app in order to get out of it.
The newest version of Snapchat is now available for download – and we have no doubt there will be many more versions to come.
