It appears that Reddit and slushii were on to something after all. Last week we told you that slushii accidentally shone a light on “a whole thing” between Skrillex and Diplo. Besides that, there was the mutual unfollowing of eachother on Instagram. Even worse, Diplo didn’t wish Skrillex a happy birthday this year. Now Diplo was forced to address the situation head on, and his answer more or less pours cold water on the future of Jack U.
While interviewing with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe he was asked about forthcoming Jack U music and completely avoided the topic, saying:
“I think right now I’m just trying to make Major Lazer. Last year I kind of did everything and I wore myself really thin trying to do all those projects but this year it’s all about getting the Major Lazer stuff out. We have a lot of records we wrote together me and Skillex but I don’t think its time to put those out now. Just trying to concentrate on this Major Lazer material.”
Sadly, it sounds an awful lot like the Jack U project is going to be on the back burner for a while. The positive is that Diplo will continue putting out music under Major Lazer and Skrillex will continue on with his projects. Whether we will see them together again remains to be seen.
